Marissa is a single mother of two children, ages 11 and 13. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She works as a hairstylist, but as her symptoms have progressed, she has been able to work fewer hours and less frequently.
In addition to managing multiple sclerosis, she has struggled with chronic back problems for many years. Recently, her condition worsened, and she was diagnosed with two herniated discs and a disc protrusion that is compressing a nerve. Her physicians have determined that surgery is necessary to address these issues. Her surgery date is July 8, 2026 and will be out six weeks. These health challenges have caused significant pain, limited her mobility, and greatly affected her ability to work and support her family.
