Keith Childers was born and raised in Taylorsville NC. He went to Liberty University and he pastored at Lebanon Baptist church for 20 years. He served the citizens of Alexander county in countless ways, helping with funerals, ministering to those in the hospitals, visiting with those in nursing homes. He’s performed countless weddings, counseled those that were in need.
Keith had a green thumb. He always grew a big garden and shared his crops with those around him. Keith has the biggest heart and never met a stranger. He always has a funny joke or story to tell and would often just call a friend up to tell them a joke and give them a laugh. Keith is a giving person. If you were in need he would find a way to help.
Now he is the one in need. After having some health issues over the past several months it was discovered this week that he has a 90% blockage in his main artery in his heart and a second artery has a 98% blockage. he is currently at Baptist awaiting possible open heart surgery.
Last year he left the church he was pastoring for 18 years and felt God was leading him to teach at a Christian school. This is a private school. Over the summer he didn’t receive any payments from the school. School starts back next week, but due to his health he’s not going to be able to teach this semester. He doesn’t receive social security. He still has expenses, house, insurance etc and with no job that is just added stress that he doesn’t need. His wife, Ginger, also teaches at the same school. She’s unable to teach right now due to needing to be there for him.
We have chosen to go this route vs the Go Fund Me route, because Go Fund me takes a portion of the donations. We also ask that if you share this on social media that you block Keith and Ginger from seeing the post. They aren’t asking for a hand out. They aren’t aware that this fundraiser is being put together. We know they would have a hard time accepting the generosity of others….they are used to being the ones that give.
