I am very excited to share that I have been offered the opportunity to travel to Peru with Arcadia University and the MEDLIFE organization in May of 2024. Under this program I will be providing health care and health education to those in need.
This past May I began my education at Arcadia University pursuing a Master of Medical Science that will allow me to practice as a Physician Assistant (PA). The mission of Arcadia’s PA Program is to graduate compassionate and highly qualified medical professionals who are patient-centered and lifelong learners, committed to diversity, global awareness, professionalism, leadership, and service. One of the ways Arcadia promotes global awareness among its PA students is with this medical service trip at the end of the didactic year.
This is an amazing opportunity that will help me to be a better provider for my future patients. I have heard from my mentors and professors that this trip is truly life changing, and it would be a privilege for me to experience. That being said, the cost of the trip is not small, and I am currently living on federal loans to get through the rest of the PA program. I am asking my family and friends to support me in any way they can. I am eternally grateful for anyone willing to donate to me so that I can take this opportunity to help those in need.

MEDLIFE’s mission is to build a worldwide Movement empowering the poor in their fight for equal access to healthcare, education, and a safe home. Over the span of nine days, I will be volunteering in mobile clinics and development projects to provide healthcare, health education, and a safer home to marginalized communities in the suburbs of Lima and Cusco. MEDLIFE’s work in Lima and Cusco focuses on human settlements in the outskirts of the city where almost 1 million people live in impoverished conditions. These communities consist of small shacks built into the precarious rocky hillside and they often lack access to basic services like running water and electricity. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been particularly severe for rural communities in Cusco where many families lived in poverty even before the pandemic.
