Gerry was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of (AML) leukemia, in January 2026. After much research, thought and prayer we have concluded that a stem cell transplant is his only option for survival. He has already gone through 4 rounds of in hospital chemo treatments but, at this point, it's just keeping him alive. He goes into the hospital on July 16th, to start intense chemo that will wipe out his bone marrow. After 6-7 days of that, the transplant will take place. They found the best match possible right here in the US, with 16/16 markers being matched! Praise God!! Gerry will be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks total. After that he will come home for a very long/hard recovery. The first 3 months he will need 24/7 supervision and care. On top of that he will need 3-5 rides per week, to and from appointments.
That's where these funds come in. As you may know, my mom is disabled. She can do some things (monitor him, check his temp, administer meds, etc) but can't drive or help with everything that may come up along the way. We have drivers on call for appointments. Also, myself (Alisha) along with a few friends, can help in home periodically. That being said we think the best thing would be to have supplemental care at least for the first couple weeks, if not more. We have contacted an in home care service for that but it can get costly really quick. We are asking for donations to help with the cost of these services. The hospital doesn't have anyone they will be sending so we are on our own to figure it out and pay for these services.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated and 100% would go to paying for the cost of his care.
Please keep Gerry in your prayers, as well as us a family. This is going to be a hard road! Thank you all for the support we've gotten and any support to come. We are grateful for you and are trusting that God will carry him and our family through this!
God bless 🩷
