My culinary journey began at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, where I honed my craft and studied the art of pastries. Immersed in the precision and creativity that the pastry world demands, I discovered my passion for creating unforgettable dining experiences. This foundational training became the cornerstone of my career, propelling me into opportunities I had only dreamed of.
After graduating, I began my professional journey at the world-famous Red Rooster, where I discovered my love for the art of mixology. It was here that I met world-renowned chef Marcus Samuelsson, who became an mentor early on and a pivotal figure in my career. Under his guidance, I developed a deeper understanding of the art of hospitality and the intricate balance between food, culture, and community.
I have been able to assist with restaurant openings Washington, D.C., New York, New Jersey, Ethiopia. Over the course of ten years, I gained invaluable experience in opening and operating restaurants, mastering the nuances of building teams, creating menus, and delivering exceptional guest experiences. These experiences taught me what it truly takes to bring a vision to life and sustain its success.
While my professional life flourished, my personal passion for exploration led me on a journey across the globe. To date, I have traveled to 30 countries solo, immersing myself in diverse culinary traditions and cultures. These solo adventures not only inspired my creativity but also taught me resilience, independence, and the power of connection. It was during these travels that I found a particular love for mixology, as I experienced how local ingredients and traditions could be transformed into exceptional cocktails that told a story of place.
As a beverage director and corporate trainer I’ve had the honor of creating bar programs that draw inspiration from my travels. Each program is a tapestry of flavors and techniques I’ve encountered, from the spice markets of Ethiopia to the vibrant street food culture of Jamaica. My goal has always been to craft experiences that transport guests to another world with every sip.
Now, I’m ready to bring this journey full circle by opening a beach bar in the Caribbean, a place where my love for food, drink, and travel converges. This isn’t just any beach bar—it will be a celebration of the Caribbean’s rich culinary heritage, featuring local ingredients that honor the land and Caribbean-inspired tapas that reflect the region’s vibrant culture. The bar will also showcase a sustainable and community-driven approach, working with local farmers, fishers, and artisans to create a truly authentic experience.
