Hi, my name is Bridget Richardson. I am not asking for donations, I would simply like to share our story in hopes maybe it’ll help other people to avoid ending up in a similar situation.
I along with my fiancé and young children are at risk of being evicted due to our landlords failing to take accountability for providing their tenants with livable housing and instead are attempting to evict us on grounds of non payment even though they will not respond to our attempts to contact them to pay the rent AFTER we were forced to make their property livable due to them renting it out in an unlivable state and failing to follow through on their promises to send someone out to repair the house, this is after they initially rented us a property that was unlivable due to black mold and a roach infestation that was not visible during the initial basic walkthrough, leaving us homeless for weeks until they finally gave us the option to transfer the lease no option to get our money back and we’re not rich by any means so that was our only option after giving them everything we had for the first month. We have gone to court once already but it was dismissed due to them wrongfully filing eviction the first time, now we are set to go again on the 26th which will most likely end in the same dismissal due to it being wrongfully filed yet again. Now on top of this situation, our car broke down, we found someone that said they can fix it, they claimed they ordered parts but no proof whatsoever now said person is seemingly attempting to get off with not fixing the car and instead just stealing our money so unless we happen to get our money back from the person and are able to get the car fixed we won’t even be able to make it to court even though we have to the money to pay the rent, we HAVE to be there to prove our attempts at contacting the landlord or they rule in favor of the landlord no matter what. We’re hard working people but I guess we’re just east to take advantage of.

I do appreciate it, the morel of the story is to make sure you know who you’re doing any sort of business with and make sure you have proof of absolutely everything or else you may end up stuck and confused as to what hard work is for if it leads to struggle in the end regardless of what kind of person you try to be. Nonetheless if you do end up here or are in a similar position just keep trying, we’re going get out of it someday.
