Mother, artist and activist Melonie King is undergoing evaluation for a liver transplant! When she was two years old, she was badly burned and needed blood transfusions. This was before blood was tested and she contracted Hepatitis C. While she successfully eradicated the virus from her body in 2014, it has done irreparable damage to her liver.
When she is not dealing with doctors appointments she is managing being a mom to two children, Preston 20 and Aurore, 10. Melonie supports her adult son as he embarks on his journey as an EMT and Aurore as they take their theatre and dance classes.
Before her health got worse, Melonie helped her community by raising mutual aid, raised money for the Palestinian children’s relief fund, and served meals to to unsheltered.
She is seeking to raise $50,000 to cover medical care, the cost of hotels after surgery, child care and other medical expenses. She is also seeking a living liver donor, whose costs, including testing are covered by the UC Hospital system. Even if you aren't a match for Melonie you could be a match for other patients in need of a liver.
