My family and I are fighting an unjust takeover by the City of Ione. We are located on Preston Ave, across from the Ione Plaza Market. These homes and this land have been in our family for over 60 years. My grandma is 70 years old, and has lived in these homes since she was 10. My other grandma has lived in her home(on the same property) since she was 21, she is now 82. They both live on fixed incomes, and over the years have attempted to upkeep the property, but have consistently fallen short. Our current situation is, we recently denied the City of Ione’s offer to buy an acre of land, then shortly after they began trying to condemn all of our homes in an effort to force us to sell our property. Since my family informed me of the current situation my family and I have put every dollar we have into fixing up the homes in an effort to restore the property to appropriate conditions while trying prevent the City of Ione from condemning our homes in the process. Restoring homes this far gone takes time and money… money that we don’t currently have. That is why we are asking for your help to finish the job of restoring our home. Anyone that is willing and or able to help in our fight against being forced to sell our homes is greatly appreciated.
