Dear friends and family,
Low-income families in the Appalachia region of the U.S. struggle each year to find and maintain housing that is affordable, safe, and sanitary. Through the use of volunteer labor, the Appalachia Service Project (ASP) works to address substandard housing by performing repairs to make homes warmer, safer, and drier.
We are Carpenter’s Helpers, a group of friends & family members called to partner with ASP to help such families so they no longer have to worry about leaky roofs, soft floors, or unsafe porches and stairs. Each year, more than 15,000 volunteers serve with ASP to provide critical repairs for more than 350 families. We joyfully volunteer our time, skills, and money over a weeklong mission trip to help a family in need.
We have registered to serve with ASP again in 2026. We won't know our assignment or location until we're closer to the summer, but we do know we leave July 4th and that we need help fundraising!
Each Carpenter's Helper member comes up with $300 to cover their cost to serve with ASP, but beyond that, we need funds to rent a travel vehicle, pay for gas, and cover food. For all that, we need about $3,000. We are confident that the Lord will faithfully provide through the generosity of people like you!
With that, we humbly ask that you decide in your heart how much to give. Do not give reluctantly or under compulsion, but cheerfully! As Jesus says, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38)
