Hello! If you don't know me, my name is Lauren and my husband, Eric, and I have 7 children, aged 17 to 5. When our family started this whole journey of mold remediation, we thought it would be best to have our house tested for mold because of some long-standing health issues and small areas of visible mold that were not going away with regular cleaning.
We were very unpleasantly surprised when we had our house tested back in January, and the test results came back worse than expected. There were elevated levels of toxic mold in the house and attic that warranted a full move-out, remediation, and whole-house cleaning. This was scheduled for mid-June, and we moved out, luckily able to stay with family to help keeps costs down. June came and went, and so did July and August. The mold removal was done, but re-testing showed the work was not complete. So more cleaning, more testing... more time....more money.
We are now finally getting to the ending stages of putting the house back together, but costs are adding up, and insurance will not pay for anything mold-related. All mattresses and upholstered furniture had to be thrown out because they could not be thoroughly cleaned. The carpet all had to go, and both our bathrooms were demolished, along with other various areas of walls and cabinets. My husband is a pretty handy guy and we have saved thousands of dollars by doing a lot of work ourselves, but even so, this is all very expensive. The total cost of inspections, testing, and remediation just is under $50,000, and then we have pay for all the materials to rebuild.
It won't be too long now before we can move back home, start getting life back to normal, and feeling better in a non-toxic environment. We would be so very grateful for any help you can offer in this very stressful time, even if you can only spare a prayer!
May God bless you for your kindness and generosity!
