UPDATE:: Mom has just been diagnosed with lung cancer on top of the triple positive breast cancer.
On July 31st my mother, Michelle, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It has rattled us to say the least. Everything is happening so fast.
This diagnosis has not only affected her health but will also created overwhelming financial and personal challenges. In addition to undergoing treatment, my mother has been given the devastating news that she must move out of her home by September 1st. At a time when she should be focusing on healing and gaining strength, she is also burdened with the fear and uncertainty of losing her home of the last 13 years. She starts her treatment September 4th!!
No one should have to face the weight of cancer and homelessness at the same time. My mother deserves stability, comfort, and peace of mind while she fights this illness. My brother and I are doing everything we can, but the costs of moving expenses, and basic living needs, the travel and hotel back and forth to be with her in FL... are more than we can manage alone.
My mother does have a job but we are unsure what the future of her working looks like. I am worried about hair loss, energy loss, even the loss of sure will to take on each day, once her treatment starts.
We are hoping by reaching out to whomever to help that we can raise enough money to pay for a deposit on an apartment and all utilities and maybe a couple months of rent. If we are able to swing this and she gets somewhere that there is a second bedroom i will be able to help her as well with bills. Instead of paying $400 & $500 a trip I can help with the needs she has.
I know this is alot to read and i appreciate the time. Again this is all happening so fast. If you have any questions please dont hesitate.
We are reaching out to our community for help. Your donation—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference. It will help cover moving costs, secure a safe place for her to live, and ease some of the financial stress so she can focus on what truly matters: her health and recovery.
Thank you so very much
Kristain
