My name is Jessica, and I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help like this. I’m usually the one others come to when they’re in need. But right now, my family is going through one of the hardest seasons we’ve ever faced.

On January 14, my husband had to undergo emergency surgery. He was out of work for several weeks during recovery and only recently returned. He is self-employed in construction, working with a gutter company, and unfortunately does not receive benefits like I do through my W-2 job. During that time, I became the sole source of income for our family of four.

I also had to take time off work to care for him during his recovery, which was necessary but put us even further behind financially. We managed to get by for a while, but this past month everything has caught up with us. We are now behind on our mortgage, utilities, and car payments, just trying to keep food on the table and the lights on.

The stress has taken a serious emotional toll on our family. Recently, my husband experienced a mental health crisis and attempted to take his own life. By the grace of God, a neighbor saw what was happening and called for help in time. He survived, but it was a traumatic experience for our entire family. I shielded our children from what happened and did everything I could to protect them from that moment.

Right now, we are trying to rebuild—not just financially, but emotionally. My husband is in a better headspace, but stability is critical for his recovery. The fear of losing our home, utilities, or transportation could trigger another breakdown, and I’m doing everything I can to prevent that.

At this time, we are approximately $4,000 behind on essential bills. Catching up would give us the ability to breathe again and regain stability, instead of living paycheck to paycheck under constant stress. I also work from home, and maintaining internet service is essential for me to keep my job and continue providing for my family.

We have exhausted all other options, including assistance programs and help from family. Any support would mean more than I can express—it would truly help hold our family together during this storm.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering us.
God bless you and your family.
