We are reaching out today with a heavy heart to ask for support my daughter Alice 13, who recently suffered a severe injury.
Two weeks ago, while walking to class Alice fell and broke her femur (thigh bone), a serious injury that required ambulance transport from school to the community hospital, transport from the community hospital to the pediatric hospital, immediate surgery, and a stay at the peadiatric hospital for a few days.
The Road Ahead is Long
While the surgery/initial treatment was successful, the recovery for a broken femur is extensive and challenging. Doctors estimate that Alice will be low mobility or non-weight bearing for at least 6 weeks and will not make a full recovery for several months.
This means a long period of intense physical therapy, frequent doctor appointments, and significant adjustments to our daily lives to ensure her environment is safe and accessible.
