My name is Robin, and I’m a single mother doing everything I can to protect and rebuild a sense of peace for my 15-year-old daughter and myself. But we are out of time — we are losing our home, and we need to find a new, safe place to live in Dutchess County before August 31st.
Earlier this year, my daughter was the victim of a violent crime — something no child should ever have to endure. It’s changed our lives in heartbreaking ways. Safety is no longer just a priority — it’s everything. She deserves a home that’s quiet, secure, and stable — not temporary shelter, not public housing where chaos and instability are common, and not a place where she has to feel unsafe or unseen.
I’ve tried. I’ve worked. I’ve stretched every dollar. But after losing the business I built due to a partner’s illness, and while working at a job that pays far below what I’m qualified for, I simply haven’t been able to save enough for first month’s rent, security deposit, and the costs of moving. Dutchess County is our home — it’s where my daughter receives trauma-related support and where we have access to limited but vital resources. Leaving the area would mean starting over with none of that in place.
So I’m swallowing my pride and pleading for help.
We are not asking for luxury — we are asking for stability, safety, and a chance to heal. If you can give anything — $10, $50, $100 — it goes directly toward:
- A security deposit and first and second month’s rent
- Basic moving costs
- Staying close to her care team and ensuring she’s enrolled in a local school this fall
Every dollar brings us closer to the peace and safety my daughter so deeply needs. And if you can’t give financially, please share this with someone who might be able to. We need a community right now — strangers with kindness in their hearts who can help us stay afloat during the hardest chapter of our lives.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us.
With love and hope,
Robin and her daughter
