In the blink of an eye, life as you know it can change. Opportunities to be a Good Samaritan come rarely. This is a chance to help someone get back on their feet and succeed. Someone I’d like to call a friend.
My name is Paul Rabideau. I am a Pastor and Counselor in New Jersey. I am hoping you will help me support my friend who never dreamed that her life would take such a turn. Please open your heart as you read on...
I was introduced to Jill as a listening ear. This woman who was brought up in a decent home, educated, had a successful career, lived in an affluent area, brought up a daughter as a single mother, yet in the blink of an eye, as the result of domestic violence, Jill became stranded in an unfamiliar area with no resources.
Jill is in Texas. The modest goal is to get her to the Northeast--to a safer place, closer to her daughter and joined with a friend with whom she can share an affordable residence. There she will be able to find stable work, arrange regular medical care, and be restored to the person she truly is. It is her desire to help relieve others’ suffering from displacement when hers is resolved.
I ask you kindly to contribute to a worthy individual. I am hopeful she will get to the place (geographically and spiritually) where she will thrive again. The goal is to raise enough for the following:
- First month’s rent, utilities and security deposit.
- Car related expenses before the trip.
- Travel including modest hotels, gas and tolls (some funds have already been pledged).
- Food before, after and during travel.
- Upon arrival, work appropriate clothing is being donated; job search assistance has already begun.
Thank you so much in advance for your kind support. You can also support JIll by forwarding the link to her story to others. Thanks.
May update to the story:
Jill has been in contact with an agency that has her on a list for housing up north. She is moved up the list so it could happen at any time, or weeks or months. They can't give her timing but getting temporary housing in the meantime in the northeast would help.
She is close yet far.
A September update from Jill
It is now September, a year since this nightmare began, but now--THANKS TO YOUR HELP--a better place is ahead.
Life is busy and complicated and needs remain to make this successful.
Because I have not been on a plane for years, I was unaware of the restrictions. Luggage that fits is required. Even then, there needs to be money to ship necessary items. The car issues still need to be addressed when I get to NY. The car is essential to find work, go to work, doctors and any other necessary destinations.
Friends are providing a bed and some furniture, but I still need to get there and get established. Some uncovered expenses:
Luggage: $125
Car Insurance: $230
Registration: $50
Car repair:$500
Shipping belongings: $250
Airport transportation:$300
Due to leave in less than 12 days, again I count on some assistance to complete this chapter. AND AGAIN THANK YOU
