When I was a young girl, the kindest father figure of a man welcomed me into his home while he struggled to hold his big black dog back from knocking me over as I entered. Many many entries into that home were always welcoming even if his daughter and my entries were a little past curfew. We would just have to accept we probably weren't going to be able to go out again for a few weeks unless he came with us. He loved music with us and he loved to FISH!
As an adult, I'd see John in the Country Hound Cafe' and we would pick up like no time had past. Talking with John was an automatic comfort. Old times, current times, his family, and his recent big catches from his trips to Lake O were common chats. He was the water system wizard and always picked up the phone when I was in a pinch to solve a water system challenge. John's fisherman heart was so happy when he learned via Facebook of the middle school fishing club my friend and I started 3 years ago. He always wanted to lend a hand at fishing club, but wasn't able to.
John's daughter, Lindy, asked me to put this fundraiser together at the wish of her father. He wanted to carry on his fishing legacy through the youth of our middle school fishing club. Funds will be put towards maintenance of gear, bait, fuel, and tackle. The fishing club regularly has 20-30 club members attend weekly meetings/fishing outings at SKY Academy Englewood and we are honored to carry on John Bechtold's fishing legacy.
Tight Lines and Bent Rods John.
