A little bit about me and my passion. I have chose the Miss Earth organization because I have a vested interest in preserving our earth and its resources. I have been a member of clubs that promote agriculture awareness and involvement since I was 8 years old.
During my time in high school and now college, I have been interested in identifying and using sustainable practices for agriculture that preserve our resources for future generations, as well as continue to provide the people of our planet what they need.
My platform is: Agvocacy: Educating others about the importance of agriculture
As your next Teen Miss Earth USA, my charge is to educate the community on sustainable agricultural practices by encouraging planting gardens, small or large, and composting in order to reduce waste and also produce soil for their gardens.
I created and packaged individual herb gardens and have distributed them to members of the community to provide the first step in growing their own gardens and growing their own food.
Growing gardens has a huge impact on the community because learning to grow your own foods decreases the dependence of having to purchase produce from stores, it can also encourage healthy eating.
Growing gardens also helps provide more oxygen through photosynthesis, and decreases the amount of carbon dioxide in the environment.
Composting is not only fun because we are producing our own soil that can feed the gardens we grow, but the benefits to the environment are great.
Composting reduces waste, it adds nutrients to the soil in order to promote plant growth and it helps the soil store carbon that would otherwise be released into the environment.
Composting also reduces the need for synthetic fertilizers.
Gardening and composting is great for any community in that it can be a family activity. Can there be a greater reward than producing organic food together and placing it on the table for all to enjoy?
