My dad, Shaun, has always been the rock of our family, working tirelessly to provide for us with unmatched dedication and strength. March 2025, our world shifted when he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. It all started after a seizure led to emergency brain surgery. With the surgery behind us, we now face the exhausting routine of radiation and chemotherapy. As a family, we've weathered many storms, but this year has proven to be the toughest. Without health insurance, and with my dad having to leave his lifelong career, our financial strain has become overwhelming.
Currently, we live apart trying to manage these hardships. My dad has moved in with my brother in Florida to continue his treatment, while my mom stays with my husband and me in Texas. This separation is temporary, but painful. Our dream is to reunite them, bringing my dad to Texas so they can be together again. Unfortunately, hospitals here require a six-month residency before offering financial aid, leaving us in a challenging bind as we cover medical expenses, rent, and bills across two states.
We're doing all we can, but at times, it feels like we're drowning. My mom can't work due to her own health issues, which adds to our load. Any help would go towards my dad's treatment, covering the costs of chemotherapy, medications, and hopefully consultations with specialists in Texas. We hold onto hope, prayer, drawing strength from the love and support around us, as we navigate this journey together.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Every penny helps. God Bless!
