As a high school student with a deep passion for computer science, especially coding. I’ve worked hard to carve out my place as a young woman in STEM, and this year my journey took an incredible turn when I discovered BPA or otherwise known as Business Professionals of America for the first time as a junior and learned they offered competitive coding events; I joined immediately, trained with my computer science teacher, and at Regionals I earned 1st place and became the Regional Champion, then advanced to State where only the top 8 qualify for Nationals. Although I placed 10th, two competitors ahead of me couldn’t attend, giving me the unexpected and wonderful opportunity to represent my school and community, and to be one of the people representing my state at Nationals in Nashville in a coding event I truly love. Now I’m raising funds to help cover meals, a professional suit so I can look sharp, and a few small essentials for the trip. Any support means the world to me and helps me continue showing that young women belong in computer science.
