Hello everyone. I’m reaching out on behalf of my brother, Kendon, and his family. He’s in the process of breaking the cycle of generational trauma, but life has hit hard.
Kendon has a 4-year-old daughter and a son on the way. He and his fiance are doing their best, but minimum wage just isn’t enough to nurture a family. They keep food on the table, but putting aside extra to save for a move? Well, anyone who has experienced poverty can attest to how difficult that is. They’re currently staying with his fiance’s mother and brother, but space is limited. He needs a place for his family.
As his older sister, it’s my job to help, but I’m not in the greatest position myself. So I’m relying on the kindness of strangers. Please.
Kendon works himself to the bone, and still makes time to take care of his daughter. He’s a great dad, better than any father figure either of us ever had. And he’s trying his hardest to stay strong. He worries that he’ll turn out like his father, but anyone who has seen him with his little girl knows: she’s the center of his whole world. And within a couple months, Kendon will have a new star in his universe, a son who is already so, so loved.
Kendon chose to break the cycle of abuse the hard way: with love and dedication and gentleness. And the world is trying damn hard to break him right now.
I know the fundraising goal seems like a lot, but every little bit helps. I’m trying to ensure that Kendon and his fiance won’t have to worry about rent or utilities for a few months. I want them to have the time to welcome their son into the world properly, and get back on their feet. I intend for 60% of the funds to go toward rent and utilities for a 6-month period, with the remaining 40% to be used for “first and last month’s rent” (a common practice in my area, at least) and any minor emergencies or incidentals.
