Koneley fell on October 17, 2022. She just returned home on November 8, 2022. During that time, she was in an urgent care and then transferred to two emergency rooms after xrays determined she needed advanced care. She had a 5 hour surgery on October 18, 2022. We spent a week on an orthopedic floor and then 2 more weeks to on a rehabilitation floor. She is home now. She is unable to bare weight or bend her leg. She broke her femur in 3 places, tibia and knee. It is being held together by numerous screws, nails, and a plate. She has a wheelchair and will be immobilized at least anther 4 weeks and it could take up to 2 months before she walks again. The bills are starting to come in and not everything is covered by insurance. She will need ongoing Physical and Occupational Therapy at each phase of her recovery. Our goal is to get her back to as close as she was before the accident. Most of you know, Koneley was born with Cebral Palsy that affected her mentally and physically. She has additional physical problems as well. This just compounded her medical conditions and expenses. We are so proud of her. She just wants to walk and go back to school. Whether you send a good thought, prayer or help out in some other way, know you have a special place in all of our hearts. Thanks in advance for your thoughtfulness and kindness.

Everyday she starts on the exercise bike for 5 minutes. In the first picture, she is completing an obstacle course. Next, she is carrying a 10 lb weighted ball. Lastly she is pulling 60 lbs on the sled.  She has be honing her soccer kicks and jumping with help. She also is going up and down the stairs. We are very proud of her strength and perseverance.

So I wanted to update you on Koneley’s progress. She has continued Physical Therapy at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan all Summer three days per week. It is sometimes a struggle to get her there. The work is very hard. She is so fortunate to have a therapist that can get her to do the hard work even on the most challenging of days. We were denied continuous coverage by our insurance even though our surgeon wrote a letter. So, we have been paying out of pocket. As you know, that is quite expensive. However, it isn’t just the therapy. It is the gas, vehicle upkeep,  meals, and time. But, there is nothing more important. To complicate matters right at the end of the year, Koneley suffers from a condition called Sibo and even after 2 doses of a 2700.00 antibiotic she is still suffering. Please keep sending good thoughts, hope, prayers. and of course donations are appreciated to defray the costs. I will attach some pictures. Thanks! We did it! TOGETHER!❤️

Thank you again, for all the love , good thoughts, prayers, and support - monetary or otherwise. I thought,  I would update you on Koneley’s progress. We are into the 5 th month since she fell. She just underwent her second surgery on the 27 th of February to clean out scar tissue and manipulate her knee while she was under anesthesia. Prior to this she had been receiving physical therapy at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan. And after a couple months at home, she returned to school. They staff at Jo Brighton are wonderful. She has a loving and supportive classroom teacher and aide. And the rest of the staff that works with her all have the same objective- to help her walk again. The PT at the school has gone above and beyond to accommodate Koneley. She will be down at the Rehab Institute 3 days a week now. You would be so proud of how hard she is working. She might not walk again. But we are doing everything to give her the chance. Donations are still be accepted.

So, she got the ok to start bending her knee a bit. Still not strong enough to bare weight on that leg. We got to see her x- rays, the hardware inside is amazing!
