Help Abdul Qader's family to survive the war.

Hello kind person,

I’m Melissa, and I’m based in the U.S. I’ve been a mutual aid organizer for families in Gaza since early 2024. I work closely with each family, stay in regular contact, and personally coordinate every donation transfer. Receipts are always available.

This fundraiser is for Abdulqader Hammad and his family.

The Hammad family is originally from Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Today, Abdulqader, 28, lives in a tent in Deir al-Balah with his parents, Muhammad and Naila, and five younger siblings. Their home was destroyed in an April 2024 bombing. The family survived after being trapped beneath the rubble and has since been displaced six times.

Muhammad lost an eye in the bombing and continues to suffer from pain and inflammation while waiting for treatment and a prosthetic eye. Naila suffers from pulmonary fibrosis and chronic respiratory problems that have only worsened under the harsh conditions of displacement.

Today, Abdulqader’s greatest concern is caring for his parents while trying to keep his family housed, fed, and safe.

Before the war, Abdulqader was a high school History and Geography teacher, a freelance digital artist, and a dedicated bodybuilder.

Today, their lives revolve around securing food, clean water, medications, and rent for the small piece of land where their tent stands.

This fundraiser supports Abdulqader and his parents. Another family member has a separate campaign supporting different needs within the family. His oldest brother was able to evacuate to Egypt with his wife and children in 2024.

Funds raised will help provide:

• Food and nutritious groceries

• Clean drinking water

• Tent and land rent

• Medical treatment and medications

• A prosthetic eye and treatment for Muhammad

• Respiratory medications for Naila

In his own words:

“My name is Abdulqader Hammad. I am 28 years old, born and raised in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. Before this devastating war, I had a normal, beautiful life filled with ambition, just like any young man in the world. I worked as a high school History and Geography teacher, helping shape the minds of the next generation. Alongside teaching, I was a passionate freelance Digital Artist, working with both local and international clients. I was also a dedicated bodybuilder, strictly taking care of my health and fitness.

The war hit us and shattered everything I had ever built. The tragedy began when our home was bombed directly over our heads without warning. We lived through unspeakable horror under the rubble, and we were miraculously pulled out alive. However, we emerged with severely broken bodies. My brother and I suffered deep shrapnel wounds and fractures, with some shrapnel remaining embedded in our bodies to this day due to the lack of proper medical care. Most painfully, my father lost his left eye in the blast.

I lost my teaching job, and my iPad and digital pen, my only tools for making a living as an artist, were completely destroyed. Our lives instantly turned into a daily struggle for survival.

My family and I have been forcibly displaced more than six times, fleeing tank shells, airstrikes, and imminent death. Today, we live in a fragile tent that fails to protect us from the scorching heat, dust, and difficult living conditions. Our daily lives revolve around securing clean water and finding enough food to get through another day.

As a former bodybuilder, my body needs proper nutrition, yet my family and I now survive on whatever food is available. I am now responsible for supporting my family, and it breaks my heart to watch them suffer while being unable to provide everything they need.

My mother suffers from severe lung disease and struggles to breathe in the dusty conditions of displacement. My father continues to live with pain from the loss of his eye and hopes to one day receive the treatment and prosthetic eye he needs.

We created this campaign to help us secure food, clean water, medications, tent and land rent, and ongoing medical care for my parents.

The losses we have endured are immense, but we refuse to lose hope. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps us survive another day. Thank you for reading our story, for sharing it, and for standing with my family.”

We are grateful for every donation, every share, and every act of support.

Receipts and proof of transfers are always available upon request.
