I write to report serious allegations concerning my recent incarceration in Camden County Jail (Woodbine, Georgia), my personal safety, and broader issues affecting detainees in that facility. These accounts reflect my observations, contemporaneous notes, and statements I received from others; they require independent investigation.
The Ordeal in Camden County:
Today, I am asking for help during the most difficult chapter of my life. Following my kidnapping orchestrated by malice, corruption, and racism in Camden County, Georgia, I believe I was subjected to inhumane treatment while in custody. During the 119 days I was kidnapped and wrongfully incarcerated, I experienced prolonged isolation, significant weight loss, repeated denials of medical care, and conditions that I believe violated my rights.
According to my records and notes, I endured:
55 consecutive days without being allowed to shower
Repeated denials of medical care (763 times)
Extended periods of lockdown in a cell roughly 4 ft by 7 ft
Difficulty communicating with my attorney and blocked access to phones/tablets
Family visits refused for “understaffing”
Requests for paperwork and to speak with the District Attorney ignored
Recreation denied as a “privilege, not a necessity”
Medication changes made without adequate medical justification
Multiple threats and intimidation, including explicit death threats
A loss of 44 pounds in less than four months
On or about March 20, 2026, an inmate identified as Darryl Edmonds allegedly attempted to assassinate murder kill me after I inquired about obtaining kosher meals and stated I was practicing Judaism as a Black Jew. I allege this was motivated by religious bias. Following this incident, I, not the aggressor, was placed on lockdown, and Edmonds was made a trustee roughly a week later.
I further allege a pattern of discriminatory or unequal enforcement, including more frequent handcuffing of outspoken Black inmates during lockdown compared to similarly situated White inmates. Corporal Fields allegedly engaged in misconduct and intimidation, failed to pursue discipline after an inmate encouraged others to sexually assault me, and maintained inappropriate boundaries with at least one inmate. I also experienced heavy, hostile cell-door knocking, denial of access to legal communication, and statements minimizing my PTSD.
I allege that drugs, including methamphetamine or fentanyl, were more than likely present within the facility, and that a former officer (“Brooks”) discovered contraband and passed it to a supervisor, Lt K. I urge toxicology and chain-of-custody review. I was informed that a pregnant woman died on March 17, 2026, while in custody at the Woodbine, GA jail. I urge a full, transparent investigation, including autopsy, toxicology, staff rosters, camera footage, and call logs from that date. In 2022, my personally owned firearm was, without my written consent, transported from Duval County, Florida to Camden County, Georgia.
I contend this violated federal law regarding interstate transport of stolen firearms and contributed to false narratives and retaliatory actions against me. The firearm was reportedly returned to police only in April 2026. I allege that certain individuals within veteran-affiliated groups, including elements associated with an American Legion Auxiliary, harbored conflicts of interest in the jail and retaliated against me due to disputes and my prior complaints.
Legal and Family Struggles:
I am currently out on a $25,000 bond and awaiting trial. Mounting an effective legal defense has become financially overwhelming. I need experienced legal representation, assistance obtaining records, and the resources necessary to defend myself, as I’m on a current fixed income due to my military disabilities and recent torn Achilles ankle surgeries. Army Veteran Seeks Legal Assistance and Community Support Following Alleged Mistreatment While wrong Incarcerated
Georgia — United States Army veteran Fitz-Gerald Desprez is seeking legal representation and public support after alleging that he was subjected to unlawful treatment while incarcerated in Georgia.

◦ I was blocked from timely access to counsel and from using phones or tablets. Family visits were at times refused for “understaffing.” My repeated requests for paperwork and to speak with the District Attorney were not met. I was told recreation was a “privilege, not a necessity.”
