Help Larry Get Back on His Feet
Dear friends,
Today I'm asking for your help on behalf of someone who has been a dear friend for over 15 years—Larry Crenshaw. If you've followed me for a while, you've probably seen me mention Larry in my posts over the years. He isn't just a friend to me; he is a true brother in Christ whose life has been dedicated to serving others.
Larry has spent countless years ministering to those in need, especially the homeless and families struggling to get by. I've personally watched him open his heart to fatherless children in his neighborhood, taking them to church, mentoring them after school, and loving them as if they were his own. Through his faith and example, entire families have come to know Christ. His compassion inspired me to join him in providing food, clothing, and after-school support for many of these families.
Larry has never met a stranger. Whether he's helping someone with a repair, offering a listening ear, or sharing the hope of Christ, he has always put others before himself.
For more than 30 years, Larry worked hard to provide for himself and serve his community. He spent 19 years as an apartment maintenance technician before continuing his career as a professional handyman.
Life took an unexpected turn in 2009 when Larry was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis. Over the next few years, he also developed plantar fat pad atrophy, plantar fasciitis, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, and osteoarthritis. These serious health challenges eventually forced him onto disability.
But Larry refused to give up.
Through years of determination, chiropractic care, lifestyle changes, exercise, and unwavering faith, he fought his way back to health and was able to return to full-time work, leaving disability behind. His perseverance is a testament to his strength and character.
Then, in early June 2026, another setback struck. The transmission in his 2001 SUV failed. The repair costs $900—money he simply didn't have. Without reliable transportation, Larry was unable to get to work and lost his job just one week later.
Since then, he has been fortunate to pick up a small remodeling project, with the property owner graciously providing transportation. However, the limited work hasn't been enough to cover his basic living expenses, and he has fallen behind on rent and other essential bills.
We're hoping to raise $3,804 (plus processing costs) to help Larry get back on his feet:
July rent: $1,200
Late fees: $290
August rent: $1,200
July & August phone bills: $214
Vehicle transmission repair: $900
Total Goal: $3,915.00 to cover all costs
If you know Larry, you know he is not someone who asks for help. He has spent his life being the one others could depend on. Today, he is the one in need.
