Creed is a 9 year old boy that was born with a genetic mutation called Gould Syndrome. He’s the only one in the world that has the variant of this mutation. At least that the drs have found so far. His mutation occurred right at the gene splice resulting in part of his DNA being deleted. This gene mutation causes strokes and brain bleeds. He had his first stroke between 18 weeks and 22 weeks in utero. He had multiple more strokes/brain bleeds in utero resulting in him being born with Hydranencephaly and Hydrocephalus. He’s had multiple more strokes/brain bleeds since he’s been born. Because of him missing the majority of his brain he nonverbal/nonmobile and has more than 20 other diagnosis. Since he is nonmobile his bones didn’t harden and he has osteoporosis. Because of this he has had multiple fracture from simple things like being picked up and even being rolled incorrectly and his legs getting twisted. Creed is now 70lbs and over 4 ft tall. He’s getting very difficult to transfer in to our regular van. We have applied to charities and grants but unfortunately because both my husband and I work we’re either over the income limit or they just didn’t have the funds to help out. We have found an older wheelchair van with low miles on it and a working lift/tie downs for his wheelchair. This would help us tremendously in every day life. We’d be able to go places and do things that aren’t normally possible due to the risk of fractures when lifting him. Because of the risk we normally only take him out for Drs appts or when absolutely necessary. We appreciate any help in obtaining this wheelchair van. Even just $1 helps reach our goal.
