In 2020 we thought all our prayers & dreams of having a building to run a better business from was ideal than on the go! After looking since 2018 we finally signed a 5 year net 10 lease in January, March with intent to start a healthy business with our model being sustainable from scratch kitchen concept I being chef created menus, concept and starting teaching myself how to be a better business owner!
since I was new to managing a business at this level I researched architectural design and process for built out a restaurant was finally coming true….well months later that dream took a turn for the worse after
Discovering damages while working on obtaining permits and finding another contractor! At every turn new information was unfolded we told the landlord and he denied.
paying for rent 6,000 month plus website $400 month Shaleafaskitchen.com and dozens other business expenses for years we found awhile awaiting dcra permits that when it rained hard water leaks, structure damages all the landlord covered up and with hold even after we told him showed him pictures and got a recommendation from b dry. We came out of pocket after to find the problems to properly address them after him denying it for year and half after month upon month paying commercial and contractor to come in and redesign we continuously ran into issue coming to find out there was mold, water damage leaking and issues so many thing that where due to Landlord lying misleading us down a hole π³οΈ .He disclosed he will fix the basement after covering it up for 3 yrs by then the price had tripled for repairs time to open was as we approached ending of lease still not open after loosing my life savings and last 6 years working nonstop without pay or benefits building what I thought was going be successful!
pressing then he threatened to move new tentants in since we are taking long but it’s all on him and lawyers didn’t help we wasted lost more money , turned in all proper documents from research and rental receipts and the leaks mold before we can properly build a restaurant. Covering up serious issues upon receiving building permit after 3 long years to start construction while paying him full rent without being open to the public.
upon receiving a business license home permit more bad information Come to find out he never had the occupancy to lease in the first place.
We need help to sue him plus recoup funds lost revenue lost dreams lost savings after working 7 days nonstop for last 3 years. We are still not near opening or solutions.After paying countless lawyers we owe over 13,000 to lawyers .Pro bono sessions.
No help from government officials. Had stop paying landlord rent because we don’t have no more money
