Hi, I’m Amber. I’m a 42-year-old mother of two beautiful girls, and I need your help. I was only 12 years old when my medical problems first surfaced. One day during a May Day run, I suddenly blacked out for no apparent reason. Throughout the years that followed I experienced continued blackouts on a regular basis, progressing into full grand mal seizures as I grew older. We visited lots of doctors and ran every imaginable test. Doctors ruled out epilepsy but could never explain why my seizures occur. Then later I was diagnosed with Lupus, among other autoimmune concerns. Life has often been very difficult. And although I've constantly battled challenges, my faith and my children bring me great joy. So, in that regard I am blessed! Unfortunately, my health took a turn for the worse these past few months with yet a new challenge, resulting in significant weight loss (dropping to 105 lbs.) and other complications.
I’m now facing surgery that is fairly immediate – scheduled for April 13th. My doctors have also assured me I will see great improvement as a result. So, that’s the part I look forward to.
The surgery I need is very expensive – and even after applying my insurance, my out-of-pocket portion is a whopping $15,356. I was informed that I must pay the full $15,356 by April 6th (in just over two weeks!). As you can imagine, this has caused me tremendous distress. Since I’ve been unable to work, I don’t qualify for a loan – and even if given more notice, I’d still not be able to save enough for this level of expense.
