This winter, my family and I to Africa on a humanitarian trip, joining a group to volunteer in schools in rural Kenya.
Our focus will be the Achungo Children’s Center, an orphanage school near Lake Victoria. For more information on them, check out their website: Achungo
We'll be assisting teachers with materials & lesson planning, engaging the children in games and sports, and contributing to light construction and repair work.
The trip is not just about lending a hand; it's also a learning experience for us, especially enabling our son for a sense of giving back, but also to better understand education, poverty, and a bit about Africa.
Each member of our team is responsible for gathering their own financial and moral support - the cost for the three of us is about $10,000. If you're interested in supporting this cause, either financially or otherwise, I'd love to hear from you.
