Hi! My name is Madison. I spent my 21st birthday in the ICU suffering from status epilepticus. I have suffered 2 seizure episodes in the past 2 months after living a healthy normal life until this point. I am learning and adjusting to my recent diagnosis of epilepsy. Due to the severity of the seizures I suffer from, every seizure I have causes brain cell loss and threatens my life. To not only ensure peace of mind, but also safety I am currently trying to get a seizure detection dog. These dogs are extremely expensive, ranging from $20,000-$30,000 for a trained dog. I currently work a part time job and go to school with a major in studio art. My partner and I would appreciate any help available to get me a service dog. With my partner working, staying at home alone is a terrifying experience for the both of us. A seizure detection dog would not only give us comfort but confidence that if I were to have a seizure while alone I would be alerted before-hand as well as have access to life-saving medication/measures. Thank you!!
