In the remote Haitian fishing village of Titans (tee-tahns), school is held in a make-shift class room in a Catholic chapel.
The chapel cannot accommodate all the village’s children, but Partners with Haiti is changing that.
A new school building will serve the children of the village. Phase One will allow the school to expand from 90 students to 150 students. Phase Two will accomodate 150 more. It is estimated that currently over half the children in the village do not attend school.
Construction of Phase One of the larger school is almost complete and classes will begin there in September 2017. With more students able to attend, there is an ever-growing need for new uniforms.
Partners with Haiti, in conjunction with local Haitian seamstresses, is also providing the uniforms that are required for school attendance-- both adding to the poor local economy and addressing student's needs.
