January 7th, 2026- Jamaica Update.

Happy New Year!!

80% of the aid groups have left Jamaica, and this disaster will take many years of work to get back on its feet. There is so much work to be done.

We have trauma patients sitting in chairs at hospitals, 124 medical clinics gone, 1000s of homes destroyed throughout the country, no electricity in areas where it will take up to a year to replace, and water systems ruined. This leads to more patients.

Our focus is on setting up this 10,000-square-foot Dome hospital, a huge project we have created with a coalition of orgs we have worked with for 15 plus years, including Direct Relief, Judah One, and Kennedy INT. Sandals Foundation, UM, etc., with 12 other orgs participating.

The dome has been sanitized and is now being packed into 3 Connex containers for shipment to Montego Bay. It's not a small field hospital; it's a dome, as you can see in the photos above.  This hospital serves a population of 500,000.

It will have 100 high-level hospital beds and a male and female ward.

The Ministry of Health has declared it to be the most important project in Jamaica. If the medical system fails, we all fail.

The larger items, such as beds, partitions, bed pans, tables, chairs, and toilets, are being covered by our coalition. We still have so many more items to pay for, and we are reaching out to see if any of our donors or contacts could make another donation to help us get this hospital running. It will be there for at least a year, and our instincts tell us it will become permanent.

Thank you for all your donations and help so far. We cannot do this without your help. Please forward to anyone who can help us with this project.

Much love - Dr. Alison Thompson- Third Wave Volunteers.

2026 NSW Australian of the Year.

NOV- 23rd- Dec 1st Jamaica update:

Our volunteer teams are very busy on the ground trying to reach people in remote areas with food, water filtration, and solar lanterns. Many of those areas will be without electricity for a year, so the solar lanterns distribution is critical.

This is a vast, difficult disaster, given that it is an island, so getting goods into the country is difficult, and reaching remote areas is also hard due to limited transport.

Feeding orphans and disabled elderly through the streets of Montego Bay a few days ago was also challenging, as the mud and water reached the 2nd floor in most houses. Hence, the people of Montego Bay are in the process of throwing out all their possessions onto the streets and will face major hurdles and challenging times over the next few months.

We come in the name of LOVE with no agenda but to show love and help. We are still working on getting the dome hospital to Cornwell hospital.

Love Dr. Alison- Founder- Third Wave Volunteers.

Nov 10th- 23. Jamaica Update.

Life is getting very desperate on the ground, and many areas have not yet received even basic food and water. We are collaborating with many organizations on the ground ( including Operation Blessing) to get aid directly to the people, and no matter how fast we move, it isn't enough.

Cornwall Hospital lost 157 beds and sustained significant damage, so we are working to set up a 10,000 sq. ft. dome hospital. The Dome structure will provide 200 additional beds, and we are working with the Ministry of Health and hospital staff to build this new hospital. The staff have also lost homes or roofs and are in a desperate situation themselves.

They serve an area of 500,000 people and are overrun right now, and that will grow as people live in these awful conditions.

Volunteer teams have been spread out through remote mountain areas, and our new team arrives tomorrow with 1000's of much-needed solar lights.

Please continue to spread our fundraiser with friends, family, and clients.

We need so much help here, it's one of the largest disasters and a very remote, complicated one!!!

Love Dr. Alison

The Dome hospital photo above, and the one below it, will be broken down and set up next to the damaged Cornwell hospital in Montego Bay.

Jamaica needs our help - we can't work fast enough to get to the people in need - please continue to push the need with friends and family.

This video below is about getting access to the most remote mountain areas who have not been accessed yet -setting up starlink communications with medic Corp And jamaican defense force assessing critical needs and pushing them out to anyone who can help.

Nov 4th- 5 Th Jamaica

Third Wave has been busy delivering aid directly to hurricane victims in Jamaica and also working on Medic Corp helicopters in remote areas that have not been accessed yet, helping to set up donated Starlink communications and gathering data to be fed into a larger system. We set out to find clinics, schools, or police stations and establish a point of contact to push the distribution of aid.

We have a fantastic partnership with a coalition of 50-plus partners. One example is Operation Blessing, where we helped set up two kitchens that serve 5,000 meals a day to distribute to hungry people, and Tom Tyler secured 100,000 pounds of chicken legs. He has really helped us connect with this island. Thank you, CPG and HSU. Thank you for doing so much for your people, for the introductions to the Ministries, and for being our magic gene.

Another MOU partner is the United Cajun Navy, which is bringing in 300,000 Mrs and a lot of aid.

The electricity will be out in parts for over a year, so our solar lights mission is critical. We have yet to pay for these lights, which cost $15 each. We have just ordered 1000s more. We are seeking a company to purchase a large quantity and receive a tax receipt.

Thank you to Tom Tyler, CPJ, and HSU for doing so much for your people, for the introductions to the Ministries, and for being our magic gene.

Thank you, Airlink, for getting our first responders in and out of Jamaica.

Thank you, donors, for being part of our One Love family. Please share this with friends and family. Let's get back to caring for humanity.

Love Dr. Alison, Founder of Third Wave Volunteers.

Landing in remote towns not yet accessible to set up Medic Corp Starlink communications and get intel on clinics, schools, and police stations.

Solar lights are a critical need for everyone living in the dark and will remain so for a very long time. Please donate to our large shipment of solar lights.

Please take a look at earlier posts below, Oct 30th.

October 28th- 30th: Third Wave volunteers have deployed to Jamaica and are now on the ground. We may experience a loss of WiFi signal for a few days, but please know that we’re here and we appreciate your donations. Please donate.  I’ll try to update this as often as possible. Love, Dr. Alison.

Hurricane Melissa,  a Category 5 hurricane, is slamming into Jamaica, the strongest to hit the island in 174 years.

At least seven people have died in the Caribbean so far, including three in Jamaica, three in Haiti, and one in the Dominican Republic. Cuba is also under threat.

Catastrophic and life-threatening flash flooding, as well as numerous landslides, are predicted.Maximin sustained winds reaching 175 MPH.

The World Meteorological Organization said it is expecting a “catastrophic situation” in Jamaica. “It will be the storm of the century for sure,” said WMO tropical cyclone specialist Anne-Claire Fontan.

Many of these communities will not survive this flooding.

Third Wave Volunteers' mission is LOVE in ACTION, starting as first responders in the WTC attacks in 2001 and having been on 921 disaster missions since, including hurricanes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, fires, and flooding, as well as man-made disasters in the Syrian, Afghanistan, Venezuelan, and Ukrainian refugee crises.

We stay long-term,  after most aid groups have left.

Our first mission is SAR, medical, solar lights, and water filtration units. The solar lights and water filter units are 15$ each.

We are an official 4/4-star Charity on Charity Navigator and Platinum Candid.

All donations are tax-deductible.
