Please Help Saja and Her Sick Mother Survive in Gaza 🇵🇸❤️
I’m asking you to please stop for a moment and read Saja’s story.
Saja Hassan Madi is only 24 years old. She is single, has no children, and is caring for her 56-year-old mother, who is sick and depends on her. Saja has been left carrying an enormous responsibility while trying to survive the devastating circumstances in Gaza.
Saja is originally from Rafah. During the war, she lost her father, her uncle, and 12 members of her extended family. The loss of so many people she loved has left wounds that cannot be put into words. Now, she and her mother are facing another painful reality: they no longer have a permanent home.
They had been renting a small room in Deir al-Balah, but they could no longer afford to remain there and lost their accommodation. At the moment, they are staying temporarily with Saja’s uncle while desperately trying to find somewhere of their own — even a simple tent or small room that they can afford.
Saja has relatives, but everyone around her is struggling to survive and provide for their own families. She cannot simply turn to them for help. She is trying to care for her mother while also trying to find food, clean water, medicine, shelter, and medical care.
And Saja is facing medical difficulties of her own.
She has a large benign breast tumor that requires removal. She has tried to seek help and explained her situation to people around her, but her concerns were dismissed as something “normal,” leaving her without the support she needs to undergo the operation.
Before the war, Saja was building a future for herself.
She studied Applied Information Technology and graduated just two days before the war began. She had dreams of building a professional career in the field she studied. But her laptop was destroyed during the war, and with everything that followed, she was forced to put those dreams on hold.
She has not been able to work in her field or continue developing her skills.
Saja told me that she hopes that one day, when life becomes safer, she can have a laptop again and return to her career. That dream may sound small to some of us, but for Saja, it represents something much bigger: the chance to rebuild a life that the war took from her.
Right now, however, her priority is not a career.
It is survival.
She needs help providing food, clean water, medicine, medical treatment, and safe shelter for herself and her mother.
Saja has also explained that receiving support through a direct local wallet would make an enormous difference because repeated transfers can come with commissions and fees. Having a safer, more direct way to receive assistance means more of each contribution can actually go toward helping her and her mother.
