Help Us Get Abington Veterans to Medical Appointments
Please consider helping the Abington Rotary Club raise money for a new wheelchair transportation vehicle for a FREE ride program in the Town of Abington for Veterans, their widows, and Gold Star families to medical appointments within a five-mile radius or to any VA New England medical facility.
Friends and Supporters,
My name is Adam Gunn and I'm a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer and the Director of Veterans Services for the Town of Abington. I'm reaching out with an urgent request on behalf of the Abington Rotary Club, which has launched a fundraising effort to raise $80,000 for a new wheelchair-accessible vehicle.
A few years ago, the Town of Abington received a donated MV-1 wheelchair-accessible vehicle with the intention of helping local Veterans and their families get to vital appointments. Thanks to Abington Sunoco, which has generously provided all maintenance at no cost, we’ve been able to keep the van on the road far longer than expected, but because the MV-1 is no longer in production and critical parts are no longer available, we can’t ensure its continued reliability or safety, so we’ve reached the end of this chapter and it’s time to begin the next. Many of our Veterans and widows are aging, disabled, or living on fixed incomes. VA, DAV, and other public transportation is not always accessible or reliable, and ride-sharing services are too expensive for many. Without dependable transportation, they miss appointments that affect their care, their benefits, and their peace of mind.
This is where you come in.
Your donation will help us purchase a new, fully accessible van that can serve the community for years to come. All contributions to this effort are tax deductible through the Abington Rotary Club, a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Whether you can give or simply share this message, your support helps ensure that no Veteran or surviving family member is left behind. We are grateful to the Town of Abington for its continued support of this program and its commitment to ensuring local Veterans and their families have access to the care they’ve earned. This effort reflects the community’s shared dedication to honoring those who served.
