I first met Malé (Mah-lay), otherwise known as Eric, mid-2022. Upon hearing his testimony of converting from Islam, and all the ties that were severed between he and his family because of his newfound faith in Christ, I became convinced that this young man from Uganda was not a "Nigerian Prince story", so to speak, but a true brother in Christ. Whenever God's divine providence had him calling to pray over me during one of the most difficult days I've ever faced, that belief was confirmed. Throughout the past 4 years we have shared many conversations and prayers together. Exchanging encouragement and life experiences with one another through the rollercoaster of life. Through all of this, I have seen Eric be a true disciple maker. Not simply a theological student, but a man active in living out his faith.
Most recently, Eric and his church have felt led to put on a camp to more fully share Christ with the children and teenagers in Uganda. Anyone who has been a part of summer camp understands what an undertaking this can be! While the world around us is full of wars, rumors of wars, and looming darkness around every corner, the Son is still shining all around us! This camp hopes to help shine the light of Christ onto those who otherwise may never hear the Gospel. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but while Christianity is rapidly decreasing in North America, it is rapidly growing in other countries, of which Africa is a wonderful example!
So let me spare you the "for the price of a cup of coffee..." spiel and simple leave you with this. Please pray for the revival happening around the world. And specifically be praying specifically for the part these young men and women hope to play in bringing it to this part of Uganda. And, if the Holy Spirit leads you to donate, do so with gladness out of the abundance the LORD has provided you with. Even with rising gas prices and electric bills, we in "the First World" countries don't seem to understand just how good we have it compared to many corners of the world. Every little bit helps, and it may very well play a part in raising up the next generation of Christ followers! What on Earth could be more important than that?!
