My name is Angie, and I’m a Colombian dancer and aspiring actress currently living in the United States.
I started dancing when I was 4 years old and trained consistently until I was 20 at an academy called Odeon Danza in Bucaramanga, Colombia. Dance has always been my passion and my dream — I’ve always envisioned myself performing professionally, dancing for sports teams, artists, music videos, and television, while also pursuing a career in acting.
However, about six months before moving to the U.S., I went through a difficult period in my life. I felt stuck, like opportunities weren’t aligning with my dreams, and I began to lose my connection with dance. When I moved to the United States as an au pair, I believed it would give me the space to rebuild my path as an artist — but things didn’t go as planned.
I fell into a deep emotional struggle and stopped dancing completely from June 2018 until February of this year. During that time, every attempt to return felt painful. I felt like I had lost 16 years of my life as a dancer, and little by little, I started losing hope in my dreams.
Through therapy, inner work, and a deep spiritual journey, I found the strength to try again this year.
And that decision changed everything.
I found a beautiful all-women dance team in Chicago called Raquettes — a group of incredibly talented, strong, and inspiring women who welcomed me and reminded me of why I fell in love with dance in the first place.
Today, thanks to that step of courage, I’ve been given the opportunity to perform in the pregame of a Chicago Bulls game and to be part of a Fashion Show performance.
This is more than a comeback — it’s a rebirth. A second chance to believe in myself, to reclaim my passion, and to build the life I once thought I had lost.
Thank you for being part of my journey 🤍
