Our school has about 100 students in our Pre-K program (ages 4-5) and 50 students in our Early Childhood Special Education program (ages 3-5). We are located in the Midway neighborhood of St. Paul, but we are a city-wide magnet school, so we have students from all parts of St. Paul.
We are currently supporting about 15-20 families with food, toiletries, transportation and utilities These are families that don't feel safe going out in the community right now. Some families are keeping their children home and doing virtual learning, and some are sending their children to school but not leaving their homes for anything else.
Our greatest need right now is monetary donations for perishable food items and utility support. Many of our families are needing things like fresh foods and vegetables, milk, eggs, etc. We have made a connection with a larger nearby elementary school that is sharing their toiletry donations with us, and we have a local diaper bank that is giving us diapers to give to families.
We are so thankful for any support you are able to give to help our students and families.
Note: This mutual aid effort is being organized by school staff, outside of the school day, and is independent of the school district.
