Help Us Support Our Daughter’s Healing Journey: The Spell Family

We are the Spell Family, and we're reaching out for help as we navigate the hardest chapter of our lives. Our daughter, Luna, is the light of our world—silly, kind, and full of love. She’s a dedicated prankster who always brings joy to others, and she’s the first to ask, “Do you need a hug?” when someone’s feeling down.

But in May 2025, Luna’s innocence was shattered. During a playdate, she experienced a horrific assault. She bravely told us right away, but it took time to understand the full extent of what had happened. We immediately sought medical care and began working with law enforcement and social workers, trying to make sense of the trauma she endured.

The trauma has deeply impacted her mental health. Luna began having frequent panic attacks, night terrors, and, eventually, self-harm behaviors. She started expressing thoughts of death, and her anxiety and PTSD have only worsened. As parents, we did everything we could to help her feel safe, but the situation became dire. I had to leave my job to stay by her side—her separation anxiety was so intense that she couldn’t even handle me being out of her sight.

Despite our best efforts, every attempt to get her the mental health support she so desperately needed was declined. Her condition continued to deteriorate.

Then, a close friend helped us find an independent therapist but she is in Spokane, WA—a licensed professional who could help Luna, but the sessions had to be in person. This was almost 400 miles from us. We knew we had to act fast, even though we weren’t financially ready to move. But the choice was clear: we had to make it happen for Luna’s well-being.

Since relocating, things have continued to be incredibly difficult. Luna’s PTSD and anxiety remain severe, with nightly terrors and violent outbursts. She’s become withdrawn, and we’ve had to take extreme safety precautions in our home to keep her safe. We are running out of resources—our savings are gone, and Luna’s dad has a job that pays once a month, but it’s just not enough to cover the mounting bills.

We are now facing the real possibility of losing our apartment—our rent is overdue, utilities are on the verge of being shut off, and our car loan is close to default. We are asking for help to bridge the gap until we can catch up. Any donation will allow us to maintain our household expenses while we wait for her dad’s paycheck and help us focus on getting Luna the care she so desperately needs.

Luna is our world. She is a gift, and we are doing everything we can to help her heal and feel safe again. We are humbly asking for your support to help us through this dark time. Your generosity will give us the chance to keep our family together, maintain our home, and give our daughter the chance at a brighter, safer future.

Thank you for reading, for caring, and for any support you can offer. It means everything to us.

With love and gratitude,
The Spell Family
