Hello,
My name is Rose, I have recently experienced some pretty rough luck.
This past weekend the apartment building I moved into about a month ago caught fire. The fire started in another unit, but my apartment and nearly everything I own were damaged by smoke, water, and the aftermath. In a matter of hours, I lost my home, my sense of stability, and so many of the things that made my daily life feel normal and safe.
What makes this especially hard is that this apartment was supposed to be my fresh start. Earlier this year, I had to leave my previous home after severe sewage flooding and ongoing electrical issues that were never properly fixed. I left quickly, lost money in the process, and spent months trying to recover emotionally and financially from that experience.
When I found this apartment, it honestly felt like life was finally calming down. It was close to work, surrounded by woods, walking distance to the park, and full of light from the big windows. For the first time in a while, I felt hopeful and settled again.
Now I’m suddenly starting over for the second time in a year.
Insurance will eventually help with some damaged belongings, but it will not cover immediate needs like a new security deposit, moving expenses, temporary essentials, or the basic costs of getting through the next few months while everything is processed.
Right now, any help would go toward:
• a new security deposit and housing costs
• replacing clothing and everyday essentials
• food, transportation, and basic living expenses while I rebuild
It’s very hard for me to ask for help, but right now I truly need it. If you’re able to donate, share this, or even just reach out, it would mean so much. Thank you for helping me get through an incredibly difficult moment.
Rose
