I am writing to you as a proud father of three who has worked since the age of 18 and has always taken tremendous pride in being able to provide for my family, pay my bills, and take care of my responsibilities.
Over the past several years, however, I have experienced a series of unexpected hardships that have dramatically changed my ability to work and provide financially.
Approximately two years ago, I relocated from Massachusetts to Florida for employment. Unfortunately, I was terminated without cause and was forced to return to Massachusetts while relying on unemployment benefits. During my time in Florida, I also experienced a serious staph infection that required surgery on both feet, including the amputation of a toe.
At the same time, my mother became extremely ill in Massachusetts and nearly passed away. After losing my employment, I returned to Massachusetts and underwent another procedure on my foot. As I was recovering, my mother's health continued to deteriorate, and I became her primary caregiver. She ultimately passed away in July 2024.
I was her only heir and had the responsibility of handling her final affairs, expenses, and services. During that already difficult period, I developed another ulcer on my foot. Unfortunately, the wound was not properly treated, and after undergoing a scheduled procedure, I developed a severe infection that resulted in another hospitalization and the amputation of the remaining toes on that foot.
The recovery from that surgery took approximately nine months. I am now dealing with another wound on the same foot and am currently on bed rest and non-weight-bearing restrictions.
These circumstances have drastically affected my ability to earn a consistent income.
I am currently pursuing Social Security disability benefits and was initially denied. I am in the process of appealing that decision. Despite everything that has happened, I have never been someone who simply gives up or expects others to take care of me. I have continued doing everything within my ability to support myself and my children.
I am a licensed insurance professional and have continued working remotely whenever my physical condition allows. I have been building my own business and working toward creating something sustainable that I can eventually leave as a legacy for my children. I have successfully enrolled clients in Medicare plans and generated revenue, but the income is currently not consistent enough to cover my basic personal expenses while also maintaining and growing the business.
I have continued looking for part-time and remote opportunities, but my current physical limitations have made finding consistent employment extremely difficult. Being restricted primarily to remote desk work has significantly reduced my available opportunities.
At this point, I am not asking for assistance because I have stopped trying. I am asking because I have continued trying, but I have reached a point where I simply cannot bridge the financial gap on my own.
I am seeking emergency assistance to help me maintain basic necessities and keep my family and myself financially stable while I work through my disability appeal, recover physically, and continue working toward sustainable employment and income.
Any financial assistance, emergency grant, referral, resource, or guidance that you can provide would mean an incredible amount to me and my children. I am willing to provide documentation regarding my medical circumstances, disability application, financial hardship, employment history, and current situation if required.
I have spent my adult life working, providing, caring for my family, and trying to do the right thing. I am determined to get back on my feet—both literally and financially—but I need some help getting through this period.
