How is it that we are here not even a year later? It's a little over 10 months since Rosie left us, and now our sweet face Mr. Duke had to leave us too the night before last. Our heads are spinning and our hearts are broken. These last few months have been so crazy, especially for Duke. Poor guy has been through so much with his health. Things we never even saw coming. He somehow landed himself with Lyme disease and his legs rapidly went lame because the lyme attacked his hind hips. Then landed back at the Vet with Pancreatitis from what we in the end suspect was the pain medication being too strong for his fragile stomach and digestive system and getting food he really shouldnt have had. He was miserable and every time we thought we were making progress forward things were looking up. We would be kicked in the heart, and things that once seemed better now seemed short-lived. One rough night turned to two or three and we would get a couple of okay ones in-between once his body settled back down. We changed his entire diet gradually of course as to not shock his system into more of a panic. We went for more frequent walks and kept the walks closer to home so we could turn around whenever needed. Rosie and him are our babies and there wasn't anything we wouldn't do for them. As the last days of September came to a close and October began Dukes' health rapidly declined. Just moments before we were all playing and then he's having difficulties waking up from a nap wetting himself. Steve and I were able to get him comfortable and alert enough that he was moving around just a bit and wagging that whip of a tail he has. I miss him so very much And my Rosie too. I am so glad that she was there waiting for him and they are together again finally. I held duke until he passed Just as I did Rosie 10 months before. Consoling him and letting him know how much of a good boy he is. Because he really is the besterest little mans ever. I miss him so very much. I dropped him off yesterday to be cremated privately and was able to set up an arrangement that I can pay for the rest of the service upon pickup.
We are so very very devastated that both our babies are no longer in the flesh with us. But I know they are here around us. I can feel them. We miss them so much. My heart hurts so very much. We love you Duke so very much and you too miss Rosie. Take care of each other we miss and love you two more than words can ever even describe.
