β¨ π Pegasus Tattoo Studios is a collective focused on fostering the growth of LGBTQIA+/traditionally marginalized artists and serving our community through compassionate and intentional care in the transformative and time-honored practice of tattooing.
At Pegasus, we provide a low-cost tattoo rental space for our artists and a cozy and welcoming environment for our clients. We firmly believe that lower-cost spaces help artists flourish and free them up to invest in themselves and their communities. As a collective, we strive to create a space that is a haven for our LGBTQIA+ community, women, people of color, and disabled people. Our community has big dreams for the future of tattooing, and we need some upgrades to our space to grow these dreams and continue to bring you the comfy and safe experience you deserve.
Our estimated cost for a full renovation is approximately $15,000, which includes materials for replacing the floors, repainting, creating additional artists stations, including a dedicated station for artists and clients with mobility needs, stocking our supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses. Every little bit helps, and every single donation we receive will be solely dedicated to enhancing our studio. Thank you so much for being a part of our community.
β¨ Our Values & Vision At Pegasus: β¨
Our long-term vision is to establish a community-focused space that supports and uplifts through a humanistic and heart-centered approach to the art of tattooing. We are rooted in the Elmwood neighborhood of Oak Cliff and invested in being a space of care in our community that has already given so much to us.
Here’s what we’re focusing on at Pegasus Tattoo Studios in Oak Cliff:
• Trauma-certified artists practicing verified trauma-informed tattooing/care
• Grant-backed research into tattooing as/treatment for:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy
- Self-harm
- Substance Abuse/Addiction
- Body Dysmorphia
- Gender Dysphoria
- Sexual Trauma
• Training and workshops for artists interested in trauma-informed/therapeutic techniques
• Client self-advocacy and consent workshops
• Small business/entrepreneurship workshops
• Advocacy and community organizing events and educational workshops

Since our opening in 2020, our goal has been to create a space that brings together our passions for client care, activism and social justice, mental health and wellness, community building and preservation, and the healing powers of the arts. For the last three years, we have worked hard to build a home for artists and clients who believe in our vision. We expanded from the original iteration of the studio–a single-station artist residency space within a non-profit art studio, to a six-station tattoo arts collective.
We are ready now to transform our home into the revolutionary studio we have always meant for it to be: expanding from our original 2nd-floor studio many of you have come to know and love as much as we have, down to the ground level; creating a space for workshops and community engagement. We have already begun establishing partnerships with local leadership and service groups interested in collaborative work, including: improving our practices and the wellness of our community through outreach and education, advocacy education and organization, and eventually, clinical services.
By the end of 2023, we plan to finalize the expansion and redesign of our lower-level space. This will allow us to offer more traditionally marginalized, who share our passion for healing & community care, low-cost & accessible studio spaces. We firmly believe that lower-cost spaces help artists flourish and free them up to invest in themselves and their communities. Vitally, our plans include the creation of functionally flexible spaces to allow for workshops and collaborative work with our partners and community.
Ultimately, to reach our goal, our space needs some upgrades to continue to bring you the comfy and safe experience you deserve and to scale our reach and opportunity for a real positive impact within our community. With your help, we can keep costs low for our artists to continue flourishing and expand our community-building objectives from Elmwood to the rest of Oak Cliff–from South Dallas to the rest of the DFW Metroplex. With your help, we can be a model for the future of compassionate, community-engaged tattooing practices.
Join us and be part of a new vision of tattooing.
