Dear Friends and Family,
First, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredible generosity, support, and kindness. It has been truly overwhelming and touching to see how many of you have reached out, shared our story, and donated to help the people of my hometown.
After carefully considering the best way to use the funds, we have decided to directly help 100–150 families and individuals who have been deeply affected by the earthquake. Their needs vary—from food, medicine, diapers, hygiene supplies, and mattresses to materials needed to begin rebuilding their homes.
Members of my family who are volunteering throughout Pereira and the surrounding communities will identify those who need help most. We are creating a detailed list of their needs and, in about two weeks, we will purchase and personally distribute the supplies.
We chose to wait two weeks for a very important reason: by then, the earthquake may no longer be on the news or trending on social media, but the needs of these families will still be there. We want to be there when the attention fades and the real work of rebuilding begins.
My cousin, Juan Daniel Castrillon, a doctor in Medellín who has been volunteering with a group of medical professionals, will travel to Pereira to help distribute the aid alongside my family and friends.
We are committed to making every dollar count and helping as many people as possible.

Queridos amigos y familiares:
Primero que todo, quiero agradecerles desde el fondo de mi corazón por su increíble generosidad, apoyo y solidaridad. Ha sido verdaderamente conmovedor ver cuántas personas se han acercado, han compartido nuestra historia y han donado para ayudar a la gente de mi ciudad natal.
Después de considerar cuidadosamente cuál es la mejor manera de utilizar los fondos, hemos decidido ayudar directamente a 100–150 familias y personas que han sido profundamente afectadas por el terremoto. Sus necesidades son diferentes: desde alimentos, medicamentos, pañales, artículos de higiene y colchones, hasta materiales necesarios para comenzar a reconstruir sus hogares.
Mi familia, que se encuentra colaborando como voluntaria en Pereira y en las comunidades afectadas de los alrededores, identificará a las personas y familias que más necesitan nuestra ayuda. Estamos creando una lista detallada de sus necesidades y, en aproximadamente dos semanas, compraremos y entregaremos personalmente todos los artículos.
Hemos decidido esperar dos semanas por una razón muy importante: para ese momento, es posible que el terremoto ya no esté en las noticias ni sea tendencia en las redes sociales, pero las necesidades de estas familias seguirán existiendo. Queremos estar presentes cuando la atención disminuya y comience el verdadero proceso de reconstrucción.
Mi primo, Juan Daniel Castrillon, médico en Medellín que ha estado trabajando como voluntario junto a un grupo de profesionales de la salud, viajará a Pereira para ayudarnos a distribuir la ayuda junto con mi familia y amigos.
Estamos comprometidos a utilizar cada dólar de la mejor manera posible y a ayudar a tantas personas como podamos.

By now, many of you have probably heard about the devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, severely affecting my beautiful hometown of Pereira and surrounding areas. Over 200 people have died and hundreds more are stuck under the rubble.
My heart is absolutely broken. This is not just a news story to me, it is my hometown, the place where I grew up, and where so many of my loved ones still live. The destruction has been heartbreaking, with homes and buildings damaged or collapsed and rescue teams working tirelessly to find and help people who remain trapped or in desperate need of assistance.
There are families who have lost absolutely everything; their homes, their belongings, and, in some cases, their loved ones. Right now, people need food, water, shelter, medical supplies, and basic necessities. Rescue teams also urgently need supplies and resources to continue their work.
I normally would never ask for something like this, but right now, I truly need your help.
I am personally organizing this fundraiser because I want to make sure the money raised reaches people who are genuinely struggling and those on the ground who are helping with rescue and relief efforts. I will personally make sure the funds are directed where they are needed most and updated everyone how the funds will be used after the fundraising ends.

Probablemente muchos de ustedes probablemente ya han escuchado sobre el devastador terremoto de magnitud 7.4 que sacudió Colombia el 10 de agosto, afectando gravemente a mi hermosa ciudad natal, Pereira, y las áreas circundantes. Más de 200 personas han muerto y cientos más se encuentran atrapadas bajo los escombros.
Tengo el corazón completamente destrozado. Para mí, esto no es simplemente una noticia; es mi ciudad natal, el lugar donde crecí y donde todavía viven muchos de mis seres queridos. La destrucción ha sido desgarradora, con viviendas, negocios y edificios dañados o completamente destruidos.
Hay familias que lo han perdido absolutamente todo: sus hogares, sus pertenencias y, en algunos casos, a sus seres queridos. En este momento, las personas necesitan alimentos, agua, refugio, suministros médicos y artículos de primera necesidad. Los equipos de rescate también necesitan urgentemente suministros y recursos para poder continuar con su labor y salvar vidas
Normalmente, nunca pediría algo así, pero en este momento realmente necesito su ayuda.
Estoy organizando personalmente esta recaudación de fondos porque quiero asegurarme de que el dinero recaudado llegue a las personas que realmente lo necesitan con urgencia y a quienes se encuentran en el lugar ayudando con las labores de rescate y asistencia.
Me aseguraré personalmente de que los fondos sean destinados a donde más se necesiten y mantendré a todos informados sobre cómo se utilizará el dinero una vez que finalice la recaudación.
