Aliyah Nicole Wilson was found hanging from her apartment balcony on July 19, 2020 in Houston, Texas. The police ruled it a suicide without any investigation at all. Over the last 4 years, her mother, Denise McClendon, has gathered evidence to suggest Aliyah didn't do this to herself. She has reached out to law enforcement with the evidence she has, only to be ridiculed or just completely ignored. She was even told no matter what evidence there is, Aliyah's case will never be changed from a suicide. Denise believes her daughter's case was handled this way because she was black, poor, and part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Aliyah had been in an abusive relationship for the past 2 1/2 years before her death. She had finally decided to get out of the relationship and move back to her home state of Michigan, where her mom resides, at the end of July when her lease was up on her apartment...but she died before she got the chance.
We are hoping to help Denise raise enough money to hire a private investigator to look into Aliyah's case and give it the attention and the justice that Aliyah deserves!
