My son, Landon, started wrestling in 5th grade. He was way behind fellow wrestlers and opponents as so many start in kindergarten or earlier. He fell in love with the sport. Landon worked extra hard and took in as much information as he could. We found a club to practice at year round and drove over an hour to get there so he could have tougher partners, which made him better. Last school year, Landon went to school online and lived at an elite wrestling academy with several other boys. They trained several times a day and Landon continued to improve. This season Landon went to the state tournament as a freshman in high school, which is a huge accomplishment. He came up short of a medal, losing in the blood round, which is the match to determine if you place or not. Just after state, Landon was asked to wrestle for Team Iowa at the AAU Disney Duals in Florida in June. This trip is an excellent opportunity for him and he's very honored to have been asked. The trip will cost $1300. That includes airfare, 6 night stay at a Disney resort with the team, pays for his registration for the tournament, Disney Park passes, 2 singlets and shirt, shorts, etc for Team Iowa gear. Landon is hoping to raise money to help him get to the Disney Duals for a chance to wrestle for Team Iowa. We aren't able to afford the trip since I just had spinal fusion surgery and was off work for 6 weeks and wasn't getting paid due to working in a school and not having days off due to stupid covid. If you love wrestling or know the importance of being involved in sports, please consider helping Landon!
