Greetings Future Donors! My name is Conrad Stojak, a NYC based artist, and I have been purchasing derelict coin-operated mechanical rides and restoring them into fun and functional works of art.
There are many of these old rides throughout the five boroughs with a large number in ghastly shape but through generous funding thus far, I have been buying them back one at a time and restoring them. I get on my hands and knees to scrape the old paint off, rework the mechanics, slap on a fresh coat of paint and make the rides beautiful and fun again.
Kids love them! They enhance the community too and bring foot traffic to businesses that sponsor them. But I need paint supplies, parts and mostly importantly... time. Ideally, I would like to quit my day job and work on this project full-time for the next few years because there are so, so many rides that need rescuing. I have also been partnering with other artists to repaint these rides. Maybe you or someone you know can help.
