Hi, I’m Myranda — a single mama to two amazing kids, ages 5 and 7, and our family dog. I’ve been essentially solo parenting their whole lives, and for the past three years, it’s been just the three of us.
In 2022, life changed drastically. I left my relationship with my children, our dog, and a few belongings, and had to start completely over. Overnight, I went from being a stay-at-home mom to working full time to support my little family. I had to find a job, finance a car at a painfully high interest rate, and build a life from scratch — without family support, while my ex had resources to fall back on.
I don’t have parents or relatives I can turn to for help. I grew up without stability, spending time in group homes and foster care, and I know firsthand what it feels like to not have a safe place to land. That experience is why I work so hard to give my kids a different story — one filled with security, love, and the comfort of knowing where they belong.
We now rent an apartment in a less-than-ideal area, but it’s the only way I can keep my kids in a decent school district. The rent is high, and the neighborhood isn’t where I want them to grow up — but I’ve been saving every bit I can to buy us a safe, stable home.
The finish line is so close. Through Habitat for Humanity, I have the opportunity to give my children a forever home. I’m just $2,500 short of the minimum needed to make it happen — and that doesn’t even cover moving costs, fencing the yard for safety, or the other essentials that come with starting fresh.
If you can help us close this final gap, you won’t just be giving us a house — you’ll be giving my kids the gift of stability, security, and a place to truly call home.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us build a brighter future.
