Help Us Serve on a Medical Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic
Hi! My name is Michael Bennett, and I am raising $3,200 to support myself, Lucia Lopez, and Daisy Lara as we prepare for a medical mission trip to the Dominican Republic with Solid Rock International.
Solid Rock International is a Christian nonprofit organization that has been serving communities in the Dominican Republic for decades. Their mission work focuses on healthcare, education, outreach, and community development. Through their medical mission trips, teams travel to communities where access to healthcare can be limited, providing medical care, distributing medications, and serving alongside local healthcare professionals and community partners.
This mission is especially meaningful to me because I hope to pursue a career in dermatology. Becoming a dermatologist is my dream, and I am excited for the opportunity to gain valuable exposure to healthcare while serving others. This experience will allow me to see firsthand how healthcare can make a difference in communities with limited medical resources.
I also serve as the President-Elect of the Junior Class Cabinet at my school, and leadership and service are very important to me. I want to use this experience to grow not only as a future healthcare professional, but also as a leader and someone who gives back to others.
This year, Daisy Lara, a double board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner, will be helping educate nursing students in the Dominican Republic and teaching children about how the brain works. Lucia Lopez, a student at the University of Pennsylvania, will also be helping Daisy with these educational efforts.Their work will give students and children the opportunity to learn more about healthcare and how the human body works.
Together, we hope to serve, learn, educate, and make a positive impact in the communities we visit.
Our fundraising goal of $3,200 will help cover the costs of flights, food, housing, transportation, and other necessary expenses for our mission trip.
