Wyatt has been sick since the week before Halloween, starting with what seemed like a stomach bug. But when his fever, pain, and fatigue didn’t go away, he went back to the doctor, where tests showed he was anemic and something more serious might be going on. After being sent to the ER and undergoing multiple scans, doctors discovered a mass on Wyatt’s right adrenal gland. He was admitted to the Children’s Hospital at UVM, where more testing revealed that the tumor is a pheochromocytoma — a rare type of tumor often associated with Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome (VHL), a genetic condition that runs in Wyatt’s family.

The tumor is about the size of his fist and will require surgery to remove. Before that, Wyatt needs to take special medication to help stabilize him and make the surgery safer. Wyatt has had a blood transfusion due to anemia, and countless other tests, IVs, and procedures this week, but he continues to fight bravely. He will be in the hospital until his surgery and recovery. The surgery is currently penciled in for November 18th.

This has been an incredibly stressful and emotional time for Wyatt and his family as they focus on getting him the care he needs. Any donation will go toward helping with medical expenses, travel, food, and time away from work so his parents, Molly and Jesse, can stay by his side.  Jesse is self employed and out of work to be there for Wyatt. They are down to one income at this time. Molly qualifies for FMLA for as long as she has sick leave. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support for Wyatt and his family during this difficult time.
