The Camp Fire, based in Northern California, is now the deadliest and most destructive fire of this century. At least 56 deaths have been reported and over 300 people are still unaccounted for. The entire town of Paradise was evacuated as the fire burned down more than 10,000 structures. There are no words to describe the profound sense of loss and horror from the utter destruction from the Camp Fire. The community desperately needs help to rebuild all they have lost.
The American Red Cross Association is adamantly working with locals and focusing on immediate relief efforts. They will provide the community with clean water, safe shelter and hot meals when they need it most.
Red Cross volunteers are providing help and support at evacuation centers to offer safe refuge for people impacted by these devastating fires. Overnight, more than 1,000 people sought refuge from the wildfires in 12 Red Cross and community evacuation centers across the state. People are welcome to come to shelters for help even if they don’t stay overnight.
