On Thursday May 4th, 2023,while under the care of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, my father passed away after a second heart procedure.
Vince, had multiple heart attacks on the evening of Monday, April 24 that presented in a silent manner. He thought that he had food poisoning from that day his lunch. It wasn’t until he wasn’t able to stay conscious or coherent that ambulance services were called and he was taken to Saint Elizabeth hospital on Wednesday the 26th.
We found out that he had unknown type two diabetes for several years, that had damaged his heart so badly rendering him unable to heal or come back from the heart attacks.
Every procedure, medication, and treatment were utilized to sustain his life to the point of attempting to make him strong enough to withstand a quadruple bypass open heart surgery.
Medication’s were given to maintain his blood pressure, an emergency pacemaker was placed in his neck, kidney dialysis was performed, stents were placed in his heart, and an impeller device was placed inside of his heart to help his heart pump and flow blood to the rest of his body.
All of these treatments were given with the most hope that he would be able to recover, yet his heart was not strong enough.
His weak heart was unable to withstand a second surgery needed to save his life.
He was able to be with his family during his last days, and hours with my mother, my sister and myself at his side.
He was not in pain and he was asleep at peace.
He will not have a public funeral or memorial, yet we encourage his friends to celebrate his life in your own way and to remember him as we all knew him through life and not as he was these last two weeks.
We all knew my father to be kind, funny, generous, a wonderful cook, and amateur chef, passionate about his community and giving back to the next generation, his work with the Saint Clair 4- H Club, his many years of dedication to the Mason lodge #110 in Lebanon, Illinois, his appreciation and affection towards everyone that he encountered from the cashier at the gas station, or the grocery store, to the CEO of the company he worked for. We all knew my father to be positive, motivated, and truly love the people that he interacted with.
If someone around him was hurt, ailing, or need, he was more than happy to give the shirt off of his own back to help relieve their suffering.
Right now, we are asking for any donation or contribution from our friends, family, and strangers to support the new life that my mother will be embarking on now, and the expenses left over from his life.

Right now we are sorting through any bills left, and the expenses of every day life are becoming more known.
Right now, the life insurance policies left by my father, are not providing for my mother’s long term life goals.

Obituary:
Vincent Alan Haun, 63, of New Baden, born November 28, 1959 in Putuxtan, Maryland, died Thursday, May 4, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon. He married the love of his life: Diana C. Cook on November 27, 1982 in Homestead, FL. and she remains in New Baden.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his two daughters, Amanda Haun & Mallory Haun; and his cherished grandchildren, Liam & Hannah.
Mr. Haun served in the United States Air Force for 21 years; and for the past 25 years he worked as an I.T. Professional. Vincent was a Master Mason with the Mason Lodge #110 in Lebanon, a member of the Library Board in New Baden and supported the Farmers & Friends 4H Club in Lebanon. He loved to cook, was a very sociable guy, always loved chatting with friends and telling stories of his life.
